Heather MacLaughlin Garbes received her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at the University of Washington, studying with Dr. Geoffrey Boers and Dr. Giselle Wyers. Her research focus is in Baltic Choral Music and her dissertation is entitled The Choral Works of Ester Mägi: A Brief Study and Annotated Catalog. She has also helped to develop and maintain the UW Baltic Choral Library. In fall 2008, Dr. Garbes will be joining the faculty of Lake Forest College as Assistant Professor of Music. At Lake Forest, she will be conducting the orchestra, teaching World Music and Theory, and collaborating with the theatre department. She is the past Musical Director of the Magnolia Chorale and Youth Theatre Northwest in Seattle. |
