Headshot   Heather MacLaughlin Garbes received her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at the University of Washington, studying with Dr. Geoffrey Boers and Dr. Giselle Wyers. Her research focus is in Baltic Choral Music and her dissertation is entitled The Choral Works of Ester Mägi: A Brief Study and Annotated Catalog. She has also helped to develop and maintain the UW Baltic Choral Library. She has presented her research at CMS National and International Conferences, the Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies International Conference in 2008 as well as other regional conferences. Dr. Garbes served on the faculty of Lake Forest College and is also the past Musical Director of the Magnolia Chorale and Youth Theatre Northwest in Seattle. She has conducted numerous collegiate and community ensembles in the Seattle, Chicago, and Houston areas and was a guest clinician for the 2006 Bangkok International Choral Festival as well as an artist-in-residence for the Bangkok International Schools in January 2008 and 2009. Dr. MacLaughlin Garbes is currently working the Houston area as a conductor, voice teacher and accompanist.
