Headshot   Heather MacLaughlin Garbes received her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at the University of Washington, studying with Dr. Geoffrey Boers and Dr. Giselle Wyers. Her research focus is in Baltic Choral Music and her dissertation is entitled The Choral Works of Ester Mägi: A Brief Study and Annotated Catalog. She has also helped to develop and maintain the UW Baltic Choral Library. Dr. Garbes is currently on the faculty of Lake Forest College as Assistant Professor of Music.  At Lake Forest, she conducts the orchestra, teaches World Music and Theory, and collaborates with the theatre department. Heather is currently a violinist with the North Suburban Symphony and sings at Trinity Episcopal Church in Highland Park, IL. She is the past Musical Director of the Magnolia Chorale and Youth Theatre Northwest in Seattle.
